The 25th San Francisco Silent Film Festival takes place at the magnificent Castro Theatre April 29 – May 3, 2020. Featuring 24 programs and over 40 musicians, our Silver Jubilee is truly not to be missed!

Festival News

We are delighted to announce our latest restoration project— Erich von Stroheim’s brilliant Foolish Wives, which will have it’s world premiere on opening night! The restoration was completed in collaboration with New York’s The Museum of Modern Art and the festival is thrilled to present the 2020 SFSFF Award for commitment to the preservation and exhibition of silent cinema to MoMA.

We will announce the full program for Festival 2020 on Tuesday, March 24. What we can tell you right now – our opening night film, Foolish Wives, will be accompanied by maestro Timothy Brock conducting members of the Oakland Symphony performing his SFSFF-commissioned score!
