Master of the House
Live musical accompaniment by Guenter Buchwald
When a housewife on the verge of a nervous breakdown puts her husband’s former nanny in charge of the chores and the children, he gets some well-deserved comeuppance for treating his family like serfs. An empathetic look at the domestic burdens of women, Master of the House humbles the tyrant of the title in the most delicious ways and gave director Dreyer a taste of box-office success.
The 2025 SFSFF Award for commitment to the preservation and presentation of silent cinema will be presented to Thomas Christensen at this screening.
