The New Klondike
Live musical accompaniment by Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra
After being cut from the team at the beginning of spring training, a championship baseball player gets caught up in a shady real estate deal. This comedy by future director of All Quiet on the Western Front Lewis Milestone was shot in Miami just as the state’s land boom was about to go bust, and there’s something quintessentially Floridian in the who’s-scamming-who storyline by famed sportswriter Ring Lardner.
Live musical accompaniment by Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

Reviving the tradition of silent-film orchestras, MONT ALTO MOTION PICTURE ORCHESTRA culls historic libraries of music for live musical accompaniment. The core group, Rodney Sauer (piano), Britt Swenson (violin), David Short (cello), Brian Collins (clarinet), and Dawn Kramer (trumpet) have recorded and toured widely, creating vibrant and historically appropriate musical scores. Percussionist Kate Polera will join the group for The New Klondike.
