The restoration of Foolish Wives was an epic undertaking by SFSFF and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. This stunning new restoration will open our 25th festival. The most expensive film ever made in its time, Erich von Stroheim’s Foolish Wives was shot in large part on extraordinary sets built on the coast of Monterey County to recreate the Mediterranean vistas of Monte Carlo. SFSFF board president Robert Byrne, MoMA curator of film Dave Kehr, and San Francisco historian Brad Rosenstein will present on the history, local connections, and restoration of Foolish Wives for a very special edition of our Amazing Tales program.
Due to limited capacity, SFSFF 2022 passholders must RSVP to secure a place at this event RSVP
