About

Abel Gance’s epic NAPOLEON is the Holy Grail of silent masterpieces. In March 2012 SFSFF presented legendary film historian Kevin Brownlow’s 5-1/2 hour restoration of NAPOLEON at the Paramount Theatre, Oakland. Composer Carl Davis conducted the Oakland Symphony performing the American premiere of his masterful score. The film was presented with the original “Polyvision” three-screen finale. Over four performances, more than 10,000 people packed the Paramount—it was truly the cinema event of a lifetime!
