Electric Insoles
About the Film
A modification of the liquid electricity pictures which were numerous last year, combining with it a long chase scene after a human whirlwing, whose electric insoles bear him into all sorts of difficulties and bring about many and disastrous collisions with people and objects. The picture is lively and develops a good many convulsing situations. The Moving Picture World (Jan-Jun 1910)
About the Restoration
Electric Insoles was produced by the Essanay Film Manufacturing Company and released in the United States on 12 January 1910. The original length of the split-reel comedy was 502 ft (153 m). This restoration is based on a black and white 35mm nitrate print, length 431 ft (131 m), in the collection of Eye Filmmuseum. The original opening title and concluding Essanay title at the end of the film are not present, otherwise the film is presumed to be essentially complete. Digital image restoration tools were used to reduce the appearance of physical damage that accumulated over the life of the film print. The restoration was completed in May 2024 by the San Francisco Silent Film Festival and Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum in collaboration with Eye Filmmuseum.
