About the Film

Jane dearly wishes to marry her soldier fiancé, but her father tries to stand in her way! Shot in the Presidio in 1915, the film features images of a long since disappeared San Francisco.

About the Restoration

Jane’s Declaration of Independence was restored in 2019, after SFSFF Board President and Lead Restorationist Rob Byrne discovered a unique nitrate print of the title at EYE Filmmuseum in Ansterdam. While the print is somewhat incomplete, the film nontheless contains reocrds of San Francisco buildings no longer standing. A collaboration between EYE Filmmuseum and SFSFF, the restoration was generously funded by the National Film Preservation Foundation.
