About the Restoration
This restoration of Peg o’ the Mounted is based on the combination of two unique original sources: an American 35mm nitrate print preserved at the Library of Congress, and a 35mm nitrate print with Dutch titles in the collection of Eye Filmmuseum. Digital image restoration tools were used to reduce the appearance of physical damage that accumulated over the life of the original materials. In the cases where the original American titles have not survived, reproductions based on translation of the Dutch titles have been substituted. The restoration was completed in October 2023 by the San Francisco Silent Film Festival in cooperation with Eye Filmmuseum and the Library of Congress, Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation.
